Day 1

OK, day 1 has been successful:
Breakfast: 1 Strawberry Yeovil Greek style yoghurt
Mid snack: Apple
Lunch: Tomato soup, wheat free crackers, ready salted crisps
Afternoon Snack: Banana
Dinner: Cheesy Beans Jacket Potato with Salad (lettuce, cucumber, spring onion, yellow pepper).
2 x wheat chocolate bars
Handful of green grapes.
4 cups of weak tea, 400 ml of water, 1 carton of apple juice.

Shouldn't have had two chocolate bars, but they were so nice! They are quite expensive, but definitely worth the money!! They are Tescos brand "free from" range.
Its been easy on me today because I've been so busy and I haven't had to think about it.

I've taken my suppliments for the day: Permatrol (good bateria like in activa), Sucroguard (controls blood sugar level and helps reduce sugar cravings), Magnesium malate (destresser/muscle relaxant), & multivitamin.

I've just measured myself again. I'm going to do it every night, because I want to see how bloated I am. Today, my waist is 34". That's three inches more than last night! I don't know if I was having a good night last night, or if I'm bloated today. But a weeks worth of measurements will provide an average. I expect that changing my diet will cause my bloatedness to go up and down. Hip and thigh remain the same.

I've noticed that I'm quite tired today with a bad headache- I guess its a combination of a long day and fewer calories.

Over and out!

Where did the time go?

OK! Haven't blogged in AGES, and here's why. Shortly after I received the info, I got food poisoning, though it may have been gastroenteritis. Its taken weeks for my appetite to return to normal. Then my Brother and nephew visited home for a week, and with all the different meal requirements, it was impossible to plan it properly. Now, my Mum has started to feel unwell, so it looks like right now is the worst time to plan a wheat free diet.
However, I've decided to try it anyway. I figured that a diet that has less wheat in it, is better than a diet with loads of wheat. So I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
So tomorrows food up until dinner time is yoghurt and banana for breakfast. Apple for mid snack, Tomato soup and wheat free crackers for lunch, wheat free chocolate bar for afternoon snack. As for dinner, who knows at the moment! I'll worry about that tomorrow when I get home. I've got a really long day tomorrow - I'm glad really because it will be less time to think about food.
Not been doing well with the Wii board fitness three times a week. did it for one week basically. Its just been so hectic, I reckon I've made up for it though! Still dog walking.
I'm too self conscience to record my weight - I don't know whether I will lose or put on. Instead, I'm going to record my measurements: Waist 31", Hips 41" (that was worse than I thought) and upper thigh 23". Since I am OK to still eat fat and real sugar, it will be interesting to see if less wheat actually does "flatten" the stomach with being less bloated.
Well that's it for tonight.

Still no information..

Getting disappointed that I still haven't received any of the info I'm supposed to be reading over. I'm waiting until Tuesday - then it will have been two weeks.
Tried some Rye bread today. DISGUSTING. won't be trying that.

Cheese made from sheep's or goat's milk is meant to be gentler on the digestion process so I have both to try soon. Plus I'm having one of those activia jobs every day. Tried Fennel and Nettle tea today - smelled awful but was surprisingly nice! Recommend!

So not much to report, except I'm doing really well on cutting down on the diet coke and I'm still waiting...

Vegetable Crisps Update

Well I made them, and while they were baking, I went on the wii fitboard for 11 mins. Anyway, the result is better than last time, in that I didn't burn them, but they aren't crisps, which is the whole point really.
They kind of look like what was left in the bottom of the crisps packet.
I'm hoping that after they cooled down they will crisps up, so I'll keep you posted. :(

Still Waiting..

I'm still waiting for the information I'm supposed to be reading over by now. I will have to email her.
In the meantime I tried eating some vegetable crisps to be pleasantly surprised by their taste. Naturally sweet and tasty. I have tried making them in the past but they didn't turn out so well. I'm going to try again and if it works I will post the recipe here. The crisps I had today were made of beetroot parsnips and carrot.
I'm going on the Wii board soon. My exercise regime is erratic at best. I can jog for a week, then do nothing for even more. The nutritionist suggested that I was just taking on too much at once, setting unrealistic goals. So I'm going to set a very easy one. For the next two weeks, I am going to go on the Wii fitboard for ten minutes, 3 times a week. When you think about it, that's nothing really, but like the specialist said, small but obtainable. I'm hoping it will get me in an exercise mind set - plus I still can't do that much with having eye laser surgery. The other downside is, I wont be able to jog by the time I'm allowed to. The air is getting too cold and its too hard being an asthmatic. I only just remembered today to book my flu jab.
I'm going to try cooking the vegetable crisps, so I'll let you know how it goes.

A Pattern Emerges

I haven't received my nutritional pack yet so nothing to say really about future meals. I have however, noticed a pattern emerging in my diet. For the past two days I have gone all day at work with the bare necessity of food, as in, a normal diet. And then, after my dinner (evening meal) I get the most incredible desire for chocolate, or something sweet, literally minutes after my main meal. I can't think why this would be the case. Yesterday it was mini bounty bars and today it was two kitkats and a chocolate donut. Then I haven't eaten anything for the rest of the night. I'm told that Chromium supplements can help ease the sugar cravings, so I'll wait until I know how much I'm meant to be taking.
I've tried to cut down on the amount of diet drinks I'm having. I'm cutting down to one can a day. It worked yesterday, but tonight I've got one beside me for my night drink. I guess I eat all that chocolate, then about now I'm feeling a bit sick, and the diet drink makes me feel better - I've no idea if that's pyschological or physiological.
One last thing to note, it was suggested to me, that if I need a fizzy drink then I should find one in which Xylitol is the sweetener and not aspartame. I haven't found one yet! Aspartame could potentially cancel out the hormone medication I am taking... I have found many drinks with sucralose, but I haven't quite figured yet whether this is OK or not. Something for me to investigate.

Add-on to "The Beginning"

I'm starving already

The Beginning

Tonight I spent 90 mins on the phone to a nutritionalist. Previously I sent her a health questionnaire, and admittedly before emailing it to her, I thought all the symptoms I said I had, it looked like I was on death's door. It made me wonder whether its just normal for a human being to have irritability, mood swings, aching muscles, tiredness etc. But apparently not. In the next couple of days I will be sent a list of foods I am to try/avoid and supplements to be taken. Then I need to plan a menu for myself during the next two weeks, as soon I'm to attempt being wheat free/aspartame free for 28 days..

What on Earth will I do without Cinnamon Swirls and Diet coke? Anyway, in the meantime I'm posting research on the net, recipes, thoughts and fears about the whole process.

And while I'm on the subject - I'm not going to list my daily food content but I will start with saying that I ate two chocolate bars today and a packet of crisps.

My first change? I have water for my night drink, instead of Diet Coke :(
